Established in 2017, Universal Manufacturing Industries (UMI) has only been growing ever since. The company offers a wide range of customization and quality at its best. The company manufactures machinery and products such as LDPE/HM/HDPE liners, Geo membranes, Carry bags, Garbage bag, PP printed bag, Vapour barrier used in construction, PP rolls, Bread bag with gusset printing, pouch, etc.

Speaking about the company and its latest ventures, Anuj Choksi, managing partner, UPI, shares, "The main product we are focusing on currently is LDPE shrink film. Our team is working on down gauging LDPE shrink film and sleeves so that it can completely replace PVC shrink. The reason for replacing PVC with LDPE is that LDPE is 100% recyclable and thus better for the environment. Being from a background of machinery manufacturers, we are also working on making changes in the extruders specifically for LDPE shrink to reduce defects."

The production unit of Universal Manufacturing Industries has a capacity of 55000 Metric tons per annum. UMI is the second unit of Abhi Plastics, which has been manufacturing plastic machinery for the past 38 years.

According to Choksi, the food and beverage industry will develop and progress tremendously in the coming years people are becoming more and more conscious about what they are consuming and how suitable it is for the human body. Choksi informs, "Improvements in the packaging domain will play a big role in taking the F&B industry forward."

At PackEx

UMI is eagerly waiting to participate in PackEx India 2022 from 14 to 16 September at BEC, Mumbai, to exhibit their wide range of LDPE shrink film, sleeves, and pouches. "We will be exhibiting our range of LDPE shrink film, sleeves, and pouches. Our specialty is that we can produce shrink ranging from 2" to 60" (120" if sheet form) and microns ranging from 30 to 500 microns. Also, the printing facility has up to six colors, which can help to increase branding by many dimensions."

As per Choksi, PackEx will help connect with businesses that believe in quality and want to make a product that stands out from the market. He adds, "We also get to look at the market, which helps us to get new ideas that can help us to grow. As our unit is comparatively young, we are looking to build our brand and let the giants in the F&B division know that we are there to fulfill their requirements and are open to working and investing with them in developing new customized products."

Increased capacity with new plant

Choksi shared that the company aims to shift businesses to use LDPE shrink and sleeves for their different types of products. It helps make the product tamper-proof and prevents any scratch and damage. "We are installing a new plant in August 2022, which will increase our capacity by 1900 MT per annum," he concludes.
